Earth Day: Eco-Friendly Clothing, Accessories & Toys for Your Little One
In celebration of Earth Day, I’m excited to share my favorite earth-friendly and organic clothing, accessories, and toys for your little one this spring and summer. Mother Nature is in critical condition and needs our help, so today is the perfect day to take action!
I always do my part to minimize my impact on the planet, and one of the ways I contribute is by purchasing organic products. Organic is not only better for the environment but also for my family’s health. While organic fabrics may cost more, the benefits are worth the investment. I’ve done some research to better understand why organic fabrics cost more and the positive impact they have on Mother Nature.
Organic cotton is grown through a multi-phase process that is carefully monitored. As Daisy Janie explains on her website, daisyjanie.com:
“First, cotton plants are sown from non-GMO seeds. The cotton is grown and harvested without toxic insecticides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Instead, crop rotation, trap crops, and beneficial insect predators are used to control pests and disease. After harvesting, the cotton fiber is processed into yarn and woven into fabric using safe cornstarches and peroxides. Chemical inputs like formaldehyde, heavy metals, chlorine bleaches, and sulfurs are strictly prohibited.
In contrast, conventionally grown cotton is treated with synthetic, carbon-based chemicals that are toxic to humans (especially the farmers who handle them daily), pollute waterways, damage the land, and contribute to global warming.”
