Black History Month is observed during the month of February in the United States and our Family will celebrate it by remembering the many important people and events in the history of the African Diaspora. Since moving back to America Mario has asked us whether he is black or white and has many questions about the history of black people in America. He “feels sad for his own kind” and is eager to learn more about Black History. I am proud that Mario attends a diverse school and has open conversations about history, race and diversity. It gives me hope for our future generations, that perhaps one day, the world will celebrate our differences and see that there is strength in diversity, love & kindness. Wouldn’t that be a beautiful world!
