Met Gala 2019 “Camp: Notes on Fashion”
Today is the day I wait for all year long, the Met Gala (Fashion's biggest night), a charity fundraiser to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and to celebrate its latest exhibition opening. The night is centered on the theme of the new exhibition; this years theme is: “Camp: Notes on Fashion”.
“Camp: Notes on Fashion” is an exhibition framed around Susan Sontag’s seminal 1964 essay Notes on "Camp" and will feature 200 fine art and fashion objects that trace the origins of “Camp” from the 17th Century (think the court of Versailles) to the present day. “Basically, we go from sun kings to drag queens,” American Vogue editor Anna Wintour said at a press conference in February.
I love fashion and I love this theme because this kind of work doesn’t take fashion seriously, but is playful and over-the-top. Enjoy my Campy round-up of fashions for little ones in honor of the Met Gala today.
