Mario's Fall Break in Portugal

In addition to Winter And Spring Break, German schools also have Fall Break. Fall break is a week off from school the third week of October and is the perfect time to have a last warm vacation before the weather starts getting chilly outside. 

This Fall Break we took a family vacation to Lisbon, Portugal. Portugal is a country full of history and beauty - did you know that Lisbon is older than Rome, and is among the oldest cities in Europe; it dates back to to 1200BC; pretty cool! 

Speaking of cool, here are some cool photos of Mario exploring a bit of Lisbon. We began our first day in Lisbon at Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a monument on the northern bank of the Tagus River, located where ships departed to explore and trade with India and the Orient. The monument celebrates the Portuguese Age of Exploration during the 15th and 16th centuries. We then went to the Lisbon Oceanarium which is the largest indoor aquarium in Europe. Mario loved seeing the more than 450 different marine species and we loved the Oceanarium’s conceptual design and architecture.
