Yesterday was Mario's 1st day of Pre-School, and I can hardly believe the day has finally arrived - Yay! In preparation for his first big day, we attended an open house on Monday; Mario had fun exploring the toys and meeting the teachers, he was even proud to give his teachers the cookies that he helped bake for them. Yesterday, however, he did not want to leave the house for his 1st full day of Pre-School. He cried and pulled off his shoes and socks thinking that would keep him home. He's clever, but I am smarter than that. Mario and I have spent the past year together as I took a break in my career to spend time with him before he began Pre-SchooI, and to be honest, we have become quite attached to one another.
Despite his resistance at leaving the house, once at Pre-School, Mario immediately engaged with his teacher who read him a book; soon after, several of his classmates sat next to him and joined in. He smiled at me giving me approval to leave, and he spent the day having a blast. When we picked Mario up at the end of the day he was all smiles :-) In fact, the feedback we got from his teachers was that he was so happy playing and having fun that he did not want to stop to eat lunch. Mario quickly adjusted to Pre-School, now my turn... :-(
