AO\ American Outfitters SS14 Kids' Collection: Belgian Brand With American Style
I first discovered AO\ American Outfitters while designing children's wear and traveling to Antwerp for design inspiration. Antwerp, a small city in Belgium about 40 miles southeast of the North Sea, is known for its expansive docklands along the Schelde River. It’s also home to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where its Fashion School opened in 1963. Since then, Antwerp has become a hub for young fashion designers, including Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, and Walter Van Beirendonck.
Naturally, I was excited to explore the fashion scene in this quaint European city. When I stumbled upon AO\ American Outfitters, I instantly connected with the brand. It had an American casual attitude and look, offering stylish and fashionable clothing for both women and kids. AO\ American Outfitters is owned by three sisters: Nathalie, the general manager; Caroline, who leads sales; and Patricia, the creative brain. Together, they've built a top Belgian brand known for its simplicity, which has gained worldwide success.
AO\ American Outfitters fashions feature bold yet subtle combinations of color, original prints, and natural fabrics. Below are a few looks from their Spring/Summer 2014 kids' collection.
