Mario & Mama: Mother’s Day at Redwood Valley Railway and Foreign Cinema

Mario & Mama: Mother’s Day at Redwood Valley Railway and Foreign Cinema

Mother’s Day was Sunday, and I spent it with my boys, feeling both tired and incredibly loved.

The day started with breakfast made by my husband, and Mario was so proud to give me his gift: a Mom's Gazette he created with his dad’s help. I love handmade gifts, and I couldn’t help but cry as Mario handed it to me, beaming with pride over his artwork—when did my baby grow into this sweet, thoughtful boy?

Later, we headed to the East Bay to ride the steam train at Redwood Valley Railway in Tilden Regional Park, one of Mario’s favorite things to do. In his excitement, he accidentally closed the car door on his hand. After a little icing and the train ride, he forgot all about it and was soon collecting sticks in the park. Of course, it had to happen on Mother’s Day—a reminder that this day is about mothering, isn’t it?

We ended the day with an early dinner at my favorite San Francisco restaurant, Foreign Cinema. It was the perfect way to close out a day filled with love, fun, and support from my husband and Mario.

Being called “Momma” is the best name I’ve ever had, and I’m so grateful for our little family and the happiness we share every day. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day too!
