Mother's Day was Sunday; I had a fun but exhausting day with my boys--and after perhaps a few too many glasses of wine I was beyond tired. I took a nice nap yesterday and think I have finally recovered and want to share photos of our day with you. My hubby began my Mother's Day by making me egg in the hole, his first time attempting it, he even made a heart shape hole in the toast for the egg- very sweet :-) And Mario was so proud to give me my gift, they made me a Mom's Gazette (I posted about it in Mother's Day Gift Ideas). I love home made gifts, and I cried when Mario gave it to me with so much pride in his artwork- when did my baby become a boy? After breakfast, we went to the East Bay and rode the scaled-down steam train at Redwood Valley Railway in Tilden Regional Park along a scenic ridge- Mario's favorite thing to do, but when we got there he closed our car door on his hand! He has been closing the car doors for a while now when we get out of the car and of course on Mother's Day for the first time he closed the car door on his little hand. I was imagining a Mother's Day trip to the ER, but after a cup of ice and the steam train ride, Mario had forgotten about his boo boo and was back using his hand to pick up sticks to play in the park. We ended the day having an early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco, Foreign Cinema. We had oysters, fried chicken, risotto, wine, and two desserts- my favourite Lavender Creme Brûlée and Espresso Cheesecake.
Overall my Mother's Day was an awesome day with a little drama, a lot of mothering, a lot of support from my wonderful husband, a lot of fun, and a whole lot of love. Being called Momma is the best name I have ever had, and I am grateful for our little family and the joy it brings me every day. I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Days as well!
