Petit-Swag is BACK!
Last week and early this week, my husband and I were in Düsseldorf, Germany, on a much needed holiday get-away. Mario's Abuelita (grandma) and a cousin came to stay with him, and though we missed Mario terribly it was a perfect escape for my husband and I to enjoy together.
While in Düsseldorf my husband and I explored the Alstadt (Old Town) in the heart of the city, where we strolled through its cobble stoned streets and the many Christmas Markets sprinkled throughout the city where we indulged by drinking a mulled wine or two. The Christmas Markets were filled with an exciting mix of shopping delights, and many traditional German arts and crafts and yummy delicacies. We also visited the Media Harbour; Düsseldorf’s former industrial harbor, that has been turned into a playground for contemporary architects such as David Chipperfield, Claude Vasconi, and Frank O. Gehry.
On the last day of our stay, we took a train to the city of Cologne where we strolled through several of its big Christmas Markets located throughout Cologne, although, it must be said, that the most impressive German Christmas Market was the one right outside of Cologne's Central Train Station as it was amazing to have Cologne's Cathedral as the Market's backdrop!
Needless to say, we are happy to be home with Mario, but enjoyed our trip immensely. Here are some photos of our Christmas Holiday in Düsseldorf,...
