San Francisco Fleet Week: Mario Watches the Blue Angels at Pier 45
This Columbus Day Weekend, we visited Pier 45 to experience San Francisco Fleet Week. Before having Mario, my husband and I usually avoided crowded events in the city, but with a 3-year-old and airplanes—well, it was a no-brainer. We decided to embrace the crowds and look up. I’m so glad we did! When we told Mario he was going to see planes, his excitement was contagious. Once there, we all had a blast.
Mario loved the air show, especially the United States Navy Blue Angels. He screamed with excitement when he saw them in the sky. Mario has an eagle eye—before I even spotted anything, he would yell, "There's a plane, right there, Mama!" He brought his favorite toy airplanes along and held onto them all day. To top it off, I ended the day with a lobster, a large shrimp plate, fries, and a beer from No.9 Fishermen's Grotto.
