My family's favorite day in New York City was the day we went to the American Museum of Natural History. We took the subway uptown and discovered what seemed like an endless line to get into the Museum going around the block and around the block again. I wasn't sure Mario or my husband would have the patience to wait in such a long line, but Mario knew that there were Dinosaurs inside and patiently waited to explore the enormous Museum.
Once inside the Museum, we not only discovered Dinosaurs but also explored the Earth and Planetary Sciences halls showcasing meteorites, minerals, and rare gems; the Mammal halls with anatomically correct specimens located in depictions of their natural geographical locations; the Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life with a 94 foot long Giant Blue Whale model; the Hall of Biodiversity showcasing the beauty and abundance of life on Earth; the Birds and Reptiles and Amphibians Halls portraying the wide variety of avian life on the planet; the Hall of Human Origins with the cultures of Asia, Africa, North and South America, and the Pacific; and lastly, but certainly most exciting for a 5-year old, the Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs featuring fossils from dinosaurs!
Mario also loves getting presents, so he was equally as excited to visit the Museum gift shop - an impressive tri-level store with unique gifts - including his new friend Choppy Dinosaur, who, explored the entire Museum with Mario and who continues to entertain Mario everyday!
