Mario Moves Into Our New Home in Düsseldorf
A few weeks ago, my boys moved into our new home in Düsseldorf while I was on a business trip to Hong Kong, China, and London. I missed my boys, but I didn’t miss the headache of moving. It took our things three months to arrive by ship from San Francisco, and of course, it arrived while I was gone. My boys were amazing, managing the move without me. Mario even directed the movers, guiding them with boxes upon boxes into the right rooms — well, sort of.
The fun really began when I arrived a week later and started unpacking. Needless to say, we’re not yet 100% settled in. The couch we ordered won’t arrive for another two months, and the coffee table won’t be here for three months (we joke that they’re still breaking down the ship to make the reclaimed shipwood table). Slowly but surely, we’re getting settled in our new home. Every weekend, we go somewhere to pick up something we need — garbage cans, sheets, towels, appliances...
I can’t wait to share our new home with you once we’re properly moved in (does that ever really happen?). Until then, here are some pictures my husband took on his iPhone and sent me while I was away of Mario moving into our new home.
