Mario Loves Dad’s Birthday: Cake, Cars, and Alameda County Fair Fun
Mario loves birthdays—especially his own. But this year, he discovered he loves Daddy’s birthday almost as much. My husband’s celebration turned out to be the perfect party for a 3-year-old at heart, and Mario couldn’t have been happier.
We began the day with a “Cars” ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins—Mario was thrilled to help blow out the candles then we headed to the Alameda County Fair, where Mario rode cars and trains, explored the animal exhibits, and soaked in the fun fair atmosphere.
The animals were cool, but the weather wasn’t. We left San Francisco dressed for its usual cool temperatures, only to arrive in Pleasanton’s blazing 97-degree heat. My husband was lucky enough to have a tank top under his henley, and thankfully I had packed a backup t-shirt for Mario. Still, we were all reminded: shorts, tank tops, and sundresses are a must for future fair trips!
Despite the heat, the day was full of family fun—and my husband couldn’t have been happier to celebrate his birthday with a party that Mario absolutely loved.
